Proposition 47 Application
Proposition 47 was introduced into California legislation in November, 2014. In that years’ time, Proposition 47 has had a positive impact on the lives of many residents who have felony criminal convictions in their past (or even their present.) Samuel Geller would love to help you learn more about this new legislature act, and perhaps add a rainbow at the end of the road.
What is Proposition 47?
Proposition 47 is the reclassification of certain drug and theft related crimes. Under this act, certain felony convictions may be overturned to misdemeanors, thus reducing or eliminating prison sentences and other life altering consequences that come along with the conviction.
Since the passing of this new law, California prisons have released thousands of inmates, giving them that second chance at doing the right thing and living the life they dream to live. With the elimination of this felony on the record, individuals may be able to live a sustainable life, where jobs and housing is plentiful and government benefits are available when needed.
If you’ve been convicted of a charge such as shoplifting, petty theft, simple drug possession, forgery or a similar crime, you may be eligible to file an appeal under Proposition 47.
